Niles Ohio to Erie Pennsylvania

6 hours 4 minutes to ride 90 miles.

Starting the ride today was going to be interesting as there were lots of turns and some were either hard to see or the signs were in odd places. It took 4 miles for the first riders to miss a turn but luckily for them rich saw them and chased them down before they had gone too far. Once on Stanhope Kelloggsville Rd we stayed on it for 23 miles. Nice thing was that there was hardly any traffic but the bad news was that there were no services. The first SAG was at mile 34 in a parking lot.

Leaving the first SAG we had to travel another 18 miles before we came to a store. We had to stop and by drinks as it is really hot and humid again and everyone running out of water. We did see our first covered bridge though.

The second SAG was at a root beer stand famous for its root beer floats and pulled turkey sandwiches. Almost everyone had one and they were great. When we left there we only had a mile to go before the Pennsylvania State line. After sprinkling the sand we continued but soon ran in to a bridge under construction but walked through as there were no workers. We missed a turn at a light and were temporarily off course but managed to find our way back. There was a real tricky route through downtown Erie but we managed to navigate through it without incident. We end up at the Sheraton Bayfront hotel which is right on the shore of lake Erie. When we arrived at the hotel it was 89F. I am so glad we have a rest day as we rode almost 600 miles this week and I am tired.
