4 hours 22 minutes to cover the 64.5 miles.
We were allowed to sleep in today as we could not leave until 8:00am. Breakfast was a 10 minute walk down the street to Perkins. A real breakfast at a real restaurant which was a treat today. Shows you how tired the riders are when everyone complains about the hotel breakfast but then doesn't have the energy to go to a restaurant.
Leaving the hotel, the sky was black and threatening rain! It was 64F so a great temperature to ride in. Just before we left town we had about 10 drops of rain and I thought we were in for along day but that was the only rain that fell. I think we chased it all the way to McPherson but thankfully never caught up to it.
At mile 12 there is a gas station and then no services to the only SAG of the day 21 miles later. There is not much to see today as it all rolling farmland with corn and some kind of grain.
Carol had fruit shishkabobs and cinnamon buns for the riders at the SAG today which was a nice treat. Leaving the SAG there are NO services for 28 miles. We were warned that when we left the SAG there would be climbing but it was more like a false flat all the way to the hotel.
