Wickenburg CA to Prescott CA

5 hours 58 minutes in the saddle 59.94 miles 7 hours 20 minutes start to finish.

If you have looked at the other times and distances you may wonder what we were doing today that it took so long! There was 7500 feet of elevation gain today. The first designated climb started at mile 17 to mile 24.3. By that time we had climbed a total of 2700 feet according to the computer. Yarnell pass tops out at 4850 feet. From there you descend in to Skull Valley before once again climbing up to Prescott which is a 20 mile climb with both false flats and false summits. We were with a group and there were lots of stretch breaks as everyone still recovering from yesterday. Climbing to Prescott we could see the smoke from the wildfires in the distance and are hoping this does not cause problems for us tomorrow. Took some pictures but it does not do the elevation gain justice. 1/2 way up the hill I knew something was wrong and sure enough my camelback was leaking but this should be the last day to wear them.
FINALLY the last 5 miles were down hill with,of course, a hill in the middle of town? This just knocked the stuffing out of us but once over that it was mostly down hill to the hotel.
